Have you failed your RTA test and need a new one? Follow these steps to schedule your appointment online

Do you have any recent failures on your theory or road tests? Do you wish to reschedule your test date due to its conflict with your work hours? The Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA) website – rta.gov.ae – allows you to easily change or book the date online.

In less than five minutes, you can complete the process. Here’s how you can schedule your RTA Road Test before or after work, according to your schedule.

How to change your RTA test’s time and date

  1. Start by visiting the RTA’s driving license portal: https://licensing.rta.ae/dlsportal/#/
  2. If you are taking driving lessons, you can enter your information in any of the following options:
  1. The RTA will display your learning permit dashboard after you choose how to enter your information. This includes your learning permit number, the driving institute, your driving license file, and the number of online theory lectures and practical training courses you have taken.
  2. You can change the theory test, the Smartyard test, or the road test according to which test you want to change.
  3. Choose the language in which you would like to take the test:
  1. Select the month and date, such as February or March. You can’t book more than two months in advance.
  2. It will display the dates available for that month, for example, February 28.
  3. After you select a date, the timings for the test available at your driving center will appear, along with the number of seats available, for example, 16:15 (five seats left).
  4. Click the ‘Confirm Appointment’ button after selecting the date and time.
  5. Following that, you will be required to pay for the test electronically with a credit or debit card.
  6. Your registered phone number will receive an SMS confirming the date, time, and location of the RTA test.

How to obtain a driving license in the UAE

Getting your driving license is a huge milestone, and it is a useful skill to have if you’re a working professional or even a stay-at-home parent.

In order to obtain a driving license in the UAE, you must be a UAE national or resident over the age of 18 (for a light motor vehicle license; motorcycles and heavy vehicles have different requirements) and be medically fit.
