Have you encountered a damaged road sign or crack in the pavement? Use the RTA app to report it

Is it safe to walk on a cracked sidewalk? Or are you having technological issues at a traffic light?

You can report any damage or malfunctioning public transportation vehicles, roads and walkways, signage, traffic lights, and bus or Metro stations online, using your smartphone, or by calling the authorities at toll-free numbers.

You can report all of these issues using the ‘Madinati’ service on the official Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) app if you’ve come across signboards that aren’t clearly visible or seen cracks in the pavement while jogging.

RTA announced its service on its official social media platforms on April 22, urging Dubai citizens to report damage to public transportation infrastructure through the ‘Madinati’ service.

It’s worth noting that in order to use this service, you’ll need to grant the RTA Dubai app access to your location settings. As a result, you must go to your phone’s settings app and authorize access to your location. The ‘Madinati’ service will determine the location with pinpoint accuracy. If you are not currently in the area affected by the damage, you can manually choose it on the map.

What is the ‘Madinati’ service and how can one use it?

  1. Get the ‘RTA Dubai’ app, which is available for Android and Apple devices.
  2. When you first open the app, the main page will display a dashboard. Scroll down to the ‘Report an Issue’ section, and then select the ‘Madinati’ subcategory.
  3. The programme will then direct you to the ‘Madinati’ complaint form.
  4. Next, you must upload a photo showing the damage; you may send up to three photos, each of which must be no more than 2MB. It’s up to you whether or not you want to include images of the damage.
  5. Finally, choose a location on the map. The RTA Dubai app will automatically highlight your present location on the map if you have allowed access to your location.
  6. Next, choose the Issue type (‘Emergency’) and write a brief description of the nearby landmark, as well as geographic details and a description of the damage.
  7. Fill in the following personal information after filing the complaint:
  1. Then, hit ‘Submit Report.’ RTA will then send you an email or SMS verifying your complaint to the address and phone number you provided.

You may also report road problems through Madinati by calling RTA at 800 9090. The toll-free number is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If you come across sand mounds or wet roads on a major route like the E11 or E311, call the Ministry of Infrastructure Development’s toll-free hotline at 800 88889 to report it. This applies to the UAE’s federal road network as well as the rest of the country.
