Going for Hajj? UAE Ministry of Health issues travel guidelines

If you’re planning to embark on the Hajj pilgrimage this year, it’s important to keep in mind the health guidelines provided by the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) before you travel. On June 18th, Saudi Arabia announced the dates for Hajj and Eid Al Adha after the crescent moon for the month of Dhul Hijjah was sighted. On the same day, the MOHAP shared some crucial guidelines for pilgrims to follow.

Firstly, it’s recommended that you visit your doctor before traveling to review your health status. This is especially important if you have any chronic conditions that require regular treatment. Make sure to take sufficient medication after consulting with your doctor and carry a medical report about your medical conditions, medications, and doses to assist yourself if required.

It’s also important to carry a medical kit with you that includes sanitizers, wound disinfection tools, fever medication, pain relievers, and creams for burns and allergies. Additionally, ensure that your personal bag includes essential hygiene items like towels and a toothbrush.

The Dubai Health Authority also provided some health advice for pilgrims to follow before performing Hajj. This includes visiting your family physician if you have any medical conditions, getting all the necessary vaccinations, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and carrying personal essentials such as personal care items and loose, appropriate clothing. It’s also recommended to carry a first-aid kit and enough medication if you have any chronic diseases, as well as health monitoring devices.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure a safe and healthy pilgrimage experience.

Vaccinations for Hajj pilgrims

As per the official website of the UAE government, u.ae, individuals who are planning to embark on a pilgrimage to Hajj or Umrah are required to receive the meningococcal vaccine (quadruple) and are strongly advised to also receive the seasonal influenza vaccine. These vaccinations are crucial in ensuring the health and safety of all pilgrims during their journey.
