You can now embark on a remarkable journey from Ras Al Khaimah, UAE to Musandam, Oman, commencing this week on Friday, October 6, courtesy of the newly launched Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) bus service.

RAKTA made the exciting announcement about the commencement of this bus service on Tuesday, October 3, through their official social media channels. The inception of this bus route was first proposed on August 31, following the signing of a collaborative agreement between RAKTA and the Municipality of Musandam.

Now, let’s delve into the specifics of this extraordinary venture.

What is the bus route for Ras Al Khaimah to Musandam, Oman?

The bus route includes several bus stops within Ras Al Khaimah and Musandam.

Ras Al Khaimah bus stops:
• Ras Al Khaimah Bus Station (Al Dhait South)
• Al Rams Area
• Sha’am Area

Musandam Bus Stops:
• Tibaat Area
• Wilayat of Bukha
• Harf Area
• Qada Area
• Wilayat of Khasab

Bus schedule and timings

The bus service is only available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Timings:

From Ras Al Khaimah to Musandam:
• 8am
• 6pm

From Musandam to Ras Al Khaimah:
• 8am
• 6pm

How long does the trip take?

According to RAKTA, the bus trip will take around two and a half to three hours.

Cost

Dh50 for a one-way trip.
Dh100 for a round trip.
Free for children under the age of three.

How to book tickets on the RAKBus website

Step 1: Enter the trip details

To begin your journey, please visit the website rakbus.ae. Once there, select ‘Al Hamra Bus Station’ as your departure point and ‘Musandam’ as your destination. Next, enter the dates for your outbound and return trips. Don’t forget to indicate the number of passengers joining you. Finally, click on the ‘Find my Journey’ button to proceed.

Selecting your seat on the RAKTA bus is completely free of charge. There are designated seats specifically reserved for seniors, women, and People of Determination. Additionally, you also have the option to choose seats with extra legroom, ensuring your comfort throughout the journey.

To secure your preferred seats for both trips, simply click on the ‘Confirm’ button. Moreover, you also have the convenience of complimentary WiFi on the bus, allowing you to stay connected during your travel. This WiFi service is valid for one hour, enabling you to browse the internet or catch up on work while on the move.

To proceed with your booking, please click on the ‘Continue’ button.

Step 3: Log into your RAKTA account or create a new account

If you do not have an existing account with RAKTA, please click on the ‘Sign Up’ option located under ‘Login’. You will be prompted to enter your full name, nationality, mobile number, and email address, create a password, and select your age group.

Step 4: Enter passenger details

Once you have successfully created an account, the next step is to enter the necessary passenger details. These details include your full name, mobile number, age, gender, and nationality.

After providing the passenger details, you will then proceed to select your preferred payment method. There are two options available:

  1. Pay Now: By choosing this option, you will be required to make the payment for the tickets using your credit or debit card through the secure online platform.
  2. Pay at the counter: If you opt for this method, you will receive a unique reference number. This reference number must be presented at the ticket counters located in Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Hamra Bus Station, specifically in the Al Dhait area.

For those who have chosen to pay for their tickets online, a digital ticket will be sent to the email address registered on your account. This digital ticket serves as proof of your purchase and can be conveniently accessed on your electronic device.

How to travel from other emirates to Ras Al Khaimah

If you are interested in traveling to Oman on the RAKTA bus, even if you live in a different emirate, you have the option to board a RAKTA intercity bus by booking a ticket through the official website rakta.gov.ae or the ‘RAKbus’ app, which is compatible with both Apple and Android devices.

RAKTA offers intercity bus routes that connect various locations such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, and Al Ain to Ras Al Khaimah.

To make a booking through the website, simply follow these steps:
1. Go to rakta.gov.ae and click on the ‘services’ option in the top menu.
2. Select ‘public transport’ and then choose ‘intercity bus’.
3. The website will present you with all the available options for intercity travel, allowing you to book your desired tickets.
4. Payment can be conveniently made using a debit or credit card.
5. Upon completion of the payment, you will receive an e-receipt as proof of your ticket purchase.

It is important to note that there is no fixed fare for intercity bus routes, as the ticket prices vary depending on the specific route.
