Four easy ways to access Emirates ID on your phone

In the United Arab Emirates, your Emirates ID serves as the primary proof of residency and should be kept with you at all times. However, if it is lost or undergoing renewal, it is important to take immediate action. If you misplace your Emirates ID, the first step is to report it promptly to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) and initiate the process of obtaining a new one.

During the printing of your new ID, you have the option to access digital versions of the Emirates ID at no cost. These digital copies can be particularly useful to have on your phone, especially when applying for services online.

Here are four methods to access your digital Emirates ID:

  1. Apple Wallet Integration for Emirates ID (Apple users only)

ICP now offers a convenient feature that allows Apple users to add their Emirates ID directly to their Apple Wallet. To take advantage of this feature, simply download the ‘UAEICP’ app and access your digital Emirates ID to seamlessly add it to your Apple Wallet.

  1. Accessing Emirates ID through the UAE Pass App (All devices)

The UAE Pass app provides a streamlined way to access various government websites and thousands of services with a single account. To access your Emirates ID through the UAE Pass app, follow these steps:

  1. Download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and register by entering your Emirates ID number. Verify your identity through facial recognition.
  2. Log in with your new account and navigate to the ‘Add Documents’ option on the home page.
  3. Scroll down and select the category ‘Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP)’.
  4. Choose ‘Emirates ID Card’ and scan your face to add your digital Emirates ID to the documents folder.
  5. Access your Emirates ID by tapping on ‘Documents’ at the bottom of your mobile screen. You can view your Emirates ID and download a PDF version directly to your phone.

The UAE Pass app also securely stores other official government documents, such as your residency permit and driver’s license, in addition to your Emirates ID.

  1. Accessing Your Digital Emirates ID through the ‘UAEICP’ App

The ‘UAEICP’ app is compatible with both Apple and Android devices. To access your digital Emirates ID, simply log in using your UAE Pass account.

Once you have successfully logged in, navigate to the ‘Emirates ID’ category on the app’s homepage. Click on your name to view the digital version of your Emirates ID. You also have the option to download your Emirates ID as a PDF for offline access.

  1. Generating a QR Code for Temporary Access to Your Emirates ID

If your Emirates ID has expired and you are awaiting a new one, you can generate a Quick Response (QR) code using the ‘UAEICP’ app. This QR code will allow you to complete transactions and procedures that require ID verification.

Creating a QR code for your Emirates ID and accessing its details does not require creating an account. Simply input your passport details, unified number, or Emirates ID number to generate the QR code.

  1. To begin the verification process, start by opening the app and tapping on the ‘Emirates ID QR Code’ on the home page.
  2. Next, you will need to choose whether you want to be verified by your mobile number or personal information. If you opt for the mobile number option, you will be required to enter your unified number or Emirates ID number.
  3. Alternatively, if you choose personal information, you will need to provide details such as your nationality, passport-type, passport number, date of birth, and ‘sponsor number’ – which indicates the number of people under your sponsorship. If you do not have any dependents, simply enter ‘0’.
  4. After entering all the necessary information, tap the ‘submit’ button.
  5. Upon completion, you will receive a QR code containing all the details of your Emirates ID. Additionally, you can view your Emirates ID number, unified number, and expiry date by scrolling down.

This QR code can be scanned by a department or organization whenever your Emirates ID is required. It serves as a convenient temporary solution for conducting government transactions.
