Flying to or from Dubai soon? Double-check your departure or arrival airport and terminal

If you’re flying to or from Dubai in the next six weeks, double-check the airport and terminal you’ll be using because Dubai International Airport (DXB) will be closing one of its runways for maintenance.

Here’s all you need to know about the Dubai International Airport renovations and how they can disrupt your journey.

Which runway is undergoing renovations?

The Northern Runway at DXB is being repaired as part of the Northern Runway Rehabilitation (NRR) project, which runs from May 9 to June 22. More than 1,000 flights will be rerouted to and from Dubai World Central each week (DWC).

In 2019, the Southern runway was closed for similar refurbishment work.

Which flights are likely to be impacted?

The following aircraft will be rerouted to DWC, according to Dubai Airports:

“Any guests due to fly in to or out of Dubai during this closure period are advised to reconfirm flight details, including departure and arrival airports, with the respective airline before commencing their journey,” Dubai Airports said in a statement.

Directions to Dubai World Central

Dubai Airports is providing complimentary bus service between all terminals at Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central throughout the redevelopment (DWC).

Dubai Airports has also partnered with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to make the transit from DWC more convenient. RTA cabs flagged from DWC will no longer be charged the Dh30 flag fall fare, according to Dubai Airports. Also, if you order an Uber through their app, you can save money by using the discount code (DWC2022) for your trip.

If you’re driving to DWC, either Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) or Emirates Road will bring you there (E611).
