How does one know if they are registered for Smart Gates?

- Start by visiting to the gdrfad.gov.ae website.
- Click the red “Start Service” button after navigating down the homepage until you find the “Inquiry for Smart Gate Registration” service.
- After that, select one of the choices:
- File Number: The file number is located on the e-visa you were issued as a guest or on the visa sticker on your passport. Selecting a file number requires you to choose between a resident or permit file type, choose the Emirate that issued the visa, and then input the file number.
- Emirates ID number; • UDB number, also known as the Emirates Unified Number; • Passport number: Provide your passport number and nationality.
- Type in your birthdate.
- Decide on your gender.
- Press the “Submit” button after selecting the “I am not a robot” captcha.
- If your record is registered, GDRFA-Dubai will thereafter notify you. If it is, “Record is registered” will appear on the GDRFA-Dubai website. Smart Gates are available for use.
GDRFA-Dubai will notify you if you are enrolled for Smart Gates after you have supplied your information.
Who is allowed to use Smart Gates?
GDRFA states that registered passengers who are 1.2 meters or taller are permitted to utilize Smart Gates. The following groups are permitted to utilize Smart Gates:
- Residents of the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)
- Citizens of the United Arab Emirates
- Schengen Union and visa-on-arrival visitors
- Holders of pre-issued visas
How to use Smart Gates?
Here is how to utilize Smart Gates after you have discovered that you are registered to use it:
- Step on the “foot” sign as you enter the Smart Gate, a distinct area at passport control.
- Next, take off any masks, glasses, or caps that are hiding your face. If needed, your passport and boarding permit should be nearby.
- After that, follow the on-screen directions and check the green light above the camera to confirm your biometrics.
- The Smart Gates will open, and your passport control procedure will be completed once your biometrics have been accepted.
If you live in the United Arab Emirates, you may be able to travel through Smart Gates in certain situations without presenting your passport or Emirates ID. The system will get your full name and photo if you only stare at the camera and wait a few seconds.
