Extending the residence visa for divorced women, widows, and their children by one year in the UAE

Did you know that women living in the UAE on their husband’s sponsorship receive an extension on their visa for one year? Children who were under their father’s visa are also eligible for an extension of the visa. Certain conditions, however, must be met in order to be eligible for this visa extension.

Here’s everything you need to know about the extension and how to apply.

Conditions for visa extension?

According to the official UAE government website – u.ae – if a divorced or widowed woman living in the UAE on her husband’s visa gets divorced or widowed, the UAE Government extends her residence permit by one year. From the date of her husband’s death or divorce, the extension begins. Visas of this type can only be renewed once and do not require a substitute sponsor. The extension applies to the woman’s children as well, provided they were on their father’s visa at the time of his death or divorce.
