Checking the validity, issuance, and expiration dates of UAE visas

UAE immigration officials offer simple-to-use online facilities that enable visa holders to access this information in a matter of seconds if they are unsure when their visa is due to expire or whether it is still valid.

ICP service

You can check your visa’s validity on the website of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) by following these steps if you have a UAE visit or residence visa issued from any of the following emirates: Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, or Fujairah.

  1. Go to this website’s address: smartservices.icp.gov.ae/echannels/web/client/default.html#/fileValidity
  2. You should first select if you want to check the validity of your visa using

either a file number or a passport number.

  1. Next, select if you have a visit or a residency visa. Choose “residency” if you have a visa for permanent residence. Choose “visa” if you are in possession of a visitor’s visa.
  2. You would then need to enter one of the following information:
  3. Emirates Unified Number (UID number)
  4. File number – You can find the file number on the visa sticker on your passport, or on the e-visa you received as a visitor.
  5. Emirates ID number (if you choose the residency option).
  6. Passport number (if you chose the ‘passport information’ option in Step 2)
  7. After that, enter your birthdate.
  8. Verify Captcha input by checking the box.
  9. Choose “Search.”

The following information about your visa will then be sent to you by the system:

GDRFA Dubai service

You can check the validity of your entry permit or residency visa on the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai website by following these instructions:

  1. Open the page at smart.gdrfad.gov.ae/Public Th/StatusInquiry New.aspx.
  2. You must first select if you want to check the validity of your visa using
  3. Application number (if you have just applied for your visa)
  4. File number (if the visa has been issued)
  5. Over-the-counter service applications
  6. Special requests
  7. Establishment (this option is for establishments registered with GDRFA)
  8. Depending on the choice you select in Step 2, you must give relevant information. You will be prompted to provide your first name, file number, nationality, and date of birth, for instance, if you select “file number.”
  9. Check the Captcha verification box.
  10. Choose “Search.”
