On Monday, the Urban October Planning Conference and Home and Construction Expo got underway, with over RO200 million worth of agreements being signed.
The annual event, held under the auspices of H H Sayyid Taimur bin Asaad al Said, Chairman of the Central Bank of Oman, will continue until Wednesday. At the opening ceremony, several agreements were signed for projects related to Sultan Haitham City.
For Sultan Haitham City’s initial phase, six partnership and cooperation agreements were signed, totaling investments exceeding RO70 million.
Furthermore, a deal worth more than RO82.7 million was struck to build networks for basic utilities like telecommunications, water, sewage, and electricity. With the backing of the appropriate regulatory bodies, Towell Infrastructure Company will carry out this project over the course of the next 24 months.
Another noteworthy agreement is the RO63.2 million contract for the construction of main roads, tunnels, and culverts, which was given to Sarooj Construction Company and is expected to be finished in 30 months.
A project to build three transformer stations will cost more than RO6 million. The project, which is being managed by Al Faniah Oman Company, has a 15-month timeline. An agreement worth over RO6 million to establish integrated service stations as part of the Al-Birr and Al Ihsan projects of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs is also noteworthy.
Additionally, a cooperation agreement was signed to develop the technological framework for smart cities within Sultan Haitham City, and a memorandum of understanding was signed for the Security and Safety Services Foundation to receive land allocation exceeding 8,000 square meters in Residential District No 17.
Eight investment opportunities for integrated residential schemes and neighbourhoods will be unveiled on the second day of the conference. Over 1.3 million square meters will be covered by these projects in Al Hamra, Bahla, Bidiyah, Jalan Bani Bu Ali, and Liwa. There will be three more chances for integrated residential neighborhoods totaling more than 379,000 square meters in Izki, Samail, and Buraimi. Over 9,000 families are anticipated to be housed in these developments.
Under the auspices of H H Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, the Investment Forum for Governorate Development Projects will take place on the fringes of the conference. It will highlight opportunities for investment in projects that have won the Governorate Development Competition and have a total estimated investment value of more than RO82 million. One of the projects is Salalah’s Rathath Boulevard, which cost RO40 million.
Along with community initiatives in Dakhliyah, the conference will showcase successful urban renewal projects in Buraimi, Dhofar, and South Batinah. In addition, contracts for the purchase of more than 200 residential units in integrated housing projects for low-income families totaling RO8.5 million will be signed.
