A new batch of Qatari real estate brokers has been licensed

A new batch of authorized real estate brokers from Qatar took the legal oath in front of the Ministry of Justice’s Real Estate Brokers Affairs Committee. 29 mediators served as go-betweens for people and real estate brokerage firms.

The license for this batch falls under the executive procedures of the provisions of Law No. (22) of 2017, which regulates real estate brokerage work, as of the Ministry of Justice’s activation of said law. It seeks to advance real estate brokerage work into a structured legal environment that is tailored to the nation’s economic and urban renaissance as well as the real estate industry’s significant growth. The goal of this objective is to achieve the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 by restructuring the real estate system.

The newly licensed batch was welcomed by Saeed Abdullah Al Suwaidi, the chairperson of the Real Estate Brokers Affairs Committee and assistant undersecretary for Real Estate Registration and Documentation Affairs. Given that the real estate industry is one of the country’s primary pillars, he emphasized the Ministry’s eagerness to promote the real estate brokerage profession by the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

Al Suwaidi emphasized that dealing with licensed brokers is essential to safeguard the rights of various parties. To rectify the situation and begin enforcing the real estate mediation law, he issued a warning against doing business with unlicensed brokers after the time limit had passed. To protect the rights of dealers and brokers, he made the point that real estate brokers must adopt contract forms for purchases and sales.

This action fits into the Ministry of Justice’s efforts to restructure the real estate brokerage industry, comply with Law No. 22 of 2017’s regulations governing the industry, develop work processes for the real estate market, and certify Qatari brokers and office owners engaged in the brokerage business. All of these efforts are aimed at promoting the country’s economy. The Ministry points out that to avoid breaking the law by performing mediation work without a license, one must deal with real estate brokers who hold a license from the Ministry.

This batch’s license was granted following the completion of the legal provisions’ specific regulatory procedures, which included interviewing applicants for positions in the profession, examining their offices to verify compliance with licensing requirements, and taking part in specialized training courses at the Legal and Judicial Studies Center.

The Ministry of Justice is working to reorganize the real estate brokerage profession and activate regulatory procedures to support the country’s economy. They also want to develop work mechanisms in the real estate market, qualify individuals working in the real estate brokerage profession among Qatari office owners and brokers, maximize the interest of Qatari real estate brokers as partners in real estate investment, and establish advanced real estate brokerage offices in the region. The new batch of licenses falls under this framework.

In cooperation with the Training Section at the Legal and Judicial Studies Center, the Real Estate Brokerage Department receives, sorts, and arranges the necessary training courses to guarantee that applicants seeking to practice real estate brokerage fulfill all legal and professional prerequisites for performing their roles in this industry to the best of their abilities.

Since the law went into effect, the Department of Real Estate Brokerage has been implementing an integrated plan to train and qualify real estate brokers. This plan includes not only training but also qualifying real estate brokers, activating the law’s executive procedures, such as planning visits to offices in the industry, and nominating applicants to practice real estate for training courses that are subject to licensing controls.
