Dubai South, the largest urban mega-development with a focus on aviation, logistics and real estate, closed 2024 with remarkable achievements in its various districts.
Last year, 415 new companies were established in Dubai South, taking the total number of companies operating to 4,044, while 94 percent of existing companies were acquired.
At Dubai South Business Park, 46,500 square meters of office space was leased, an increase of 300 percent compared to 2023.
Dubai South expansion
Dubai South Properties has successfully completed the first phase of The Pulse Beachfront with over 200 units. Another 500 units in other phases are scheduled to be completed by the end of the first half of 2025.
To meet the growing demand for apartments in Dubai South, South Living was launched, attracting great interest and selling out. Contractors have been hired and construction on the project has begun.
In addition, GEMS Founders School was officially opened last year, welcoming over 500 students. At the same time, the company signed an agreement with BT Properties, Asia’s largest private real estate developer, for the development of a gated master community in the Golf District.
The regional logistics district celebrated several milestones, solidifying its position as a major contributor to the UAE’s ever-growing logistics sector.
These include the opening of a state-of-the-art FedEx regional air and ground hub, the opening of Boston Scientific’s regional distribution centre at the Hellmann Calipar Healthcare Logistics facility and the groundbreaking ceremony for a new dnata Logistics facility.
In addition, the first phase of autonomous vehicle testing in the UAE, conducted in collaboration with Evocargo, was successfully completed.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub has signed several agreements with renowned aerospace companies to establish their presence in the hub.
These include International Energy Resources (IER), which will set up a state-of-the-art MRO and engine testing facility; ATS Technic and Liebherr Aerospace for the MRO facility; SG Aircraft Maintenance Services and Sun Air Aircraft Maintenance Services. In addition, Tim Aerospace has begun construction of a new facility, while Jet Flight Services and Comlux have also opened new facilities at MBRAH.
