Emaar declares elected chairman, board members for 2021

Dubai’s Emaar Properties has declared the election of Jamal Bin Theniyah as a chairman of the board of directors for  2021.

Ahmed Jawa has also been elected as vice-chairman, as per a bourse filing on Monday.

The emirate’s largest recorded designer had named Theniyah to the position in December 2020 to replace the organization’s founder Mohamed Alabbar, inconsistency with corporate governance guidelines.

Rules for listed companies in the UAE restrict the chairman from having executive responsibilities, hence Alabbar was chosen as the managing director last December.

The most recent bourse filing expressed that Alabbar will keep on serving as managing director this year.

The new board of directors elected for 2021 also have Jassim Mohammed Abdul Rahim Al Ali, Ahmad Thani Rashed Al Matrooshi, Buti Obaid Buti Almulla, Eman Mahmood Ahmed Abdulrazzaq, Helel Saeed Salem Almarri, and Sultan Saed Mohammed Nasser AlMansoori.
